Are you backed up?

In a recession, I can understand it when some small companies go under, but what I can't get my head round is when it's because they've lost all their computer records.

Could that be you?

Just take a minute to imagine what life would be like if your computer suddenly gave up the ghost.

Scary?

Back it up!  These days, there's really no excuse as it's so easy.  All it takes is a little discipline, planning and time (and, sometimes, not even that).  Investigate what's best for you: don't do much?  Use a memory stick/flash drive.  Try a CD.  Do more?  Is there an online service for you?  Need to back up the entire hard drive?  Get an external one.  Research all the variations and then decide.  Have a look at the BBC's guide.  Designate someone to do it, if the solution is not an automatic one.  Decide how often it needs to be done - daily, weekly, monthly etc.

Don't lose your business because you didn't back up - and, yes, I've seen it happen, though fortunately not to me.
